With André Lotterer securing both pole position and second place in today’s Rome E-Prix, DS TECHEETAH has taken the lead in the team championship, leaving the team in a strong position for DS Automobiles home race in Paris on 27 April 2019.
With the podium festivities barely over in China after DS TECHEETAH’s first victory with the DS E-TENSE FE19 and Jean-Éric Vergne, DS Performance’s technical squad have been busy putting the finishing touches to the first of the powertrain evolutions it is preparing for the 2019/2020 FIA Formula E Championship.

After a thrilling start to DS TECHEETAH’s home E-Prix, Jean-Éric who qualified second, made his move to take the lead and it kept all the way to the chequered flag with an extremely strong drive. The fifth round of the ABB FIA Formula E 2018/2019 season nearly saw its first ever wet race just in time to celebrate its 50th E-Prix in the Harbour of central Hong Kong. As underlined by Mark Preston, DS TECHEETAH Team Principal, it was probably the most stressful race we’ve had in a while with André Lotterer nearly claiming the win while Jean-Éric Vergne being at the wrong end of some further aggressive driver tactics.
Starting from P8 and P12 on the starting grid, both DS TECHEETAH’s drivers had one goal, climbing up the ladder to score as many points as possible. Already in lap one the action had begun with Jean-Éric overtaking Sims in turn 1 and then getting overtaken back by Alexander Sims who came through inside the bollard in turn 4. Shortly after, Nelson Piquet Jr. came crashing on top of his car to cause the second red flag in ABB FIA Formula E history.
On the 29 January 2019, reigning ABB FIA Formula E Champion, Jean-Éric Vergne, was presented with the Grand Prix du Festival award at the 34th edition of the Festival Automobile International (FAI) in Les Invalides in Paris for his achievement in winning the Season Four Drivers’ Championship. Previous FAI winners include Alain Prost, Michael Schumacher, Lewis Hamilton and Jacky Ickx.

The 2019 ABB FIA Formula E Marrakesh E-Prix saw a brave start from Jean-Éric Vergne who launched for the lead into turn one from his P2 start position. Unfortunately, the attempt was just on the limit and the Frenchman spun out. Nevertheless, this didn’t stop the reigning Formula E champion who quickly worked his way through the grid to end P5 at the checkered flag.

DS Virgin Racing’s Sam Bird reduced the title deficit to rival Jean-Eric Vergne by almost half, with a second-place finish during today’s frantic Formula E Zurich E-Prix.
The result sees the British racer close the gap to 23-points, with just the final two rounds in New York left to play out – an event Bird took a clean sweep in last year. It also sees his DS Virgin Racing team remain in contention for both titles.

The 2018 Paris E-prix was an opportunity for DS Automobiles to share the details of its electrification strategy. From 2025 onwards, all new models will be available exclusively in electrified versions, either hybrid or electric. For DS, a French brand established in Paris and committed to the Formula E Championship, the recent ePrix held around the prestigious site of the Hôtel des Invalides, was an opportunity to talk about the strategy for the electrification of its vehicles.

DS Virgin Racing has secured an outstanding victory in the first round of the Formula E Championship, which took place on 2 December and 3 December, 2017 in Hong Kong, placing its driver Sam Bird at the top of the driver standings and its team in second place of the team standings with three-point’s difference with the leader. DS Virgin Racing has today launched its season four Formula E car – the DSV-03 – ahead of the opening rounds in Hong Kong, and coinciding with the anniversary of the team’s maiden victory.
