FORMULA E A rather difficult weekend for DS TECHEETAH

26 July, 2021

5 years later the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship made its long expected return to the streets of London. This weekend a double race took place and the DS TECHEETAH drivers came out with a disappointing performance and a lot of frustration. Although they started well, the race did not go as planned for DS TECHEETAH, but they still have all their chances for the title and now they are 4th in the Teams ranking.

Round 12, 24 July 2021

At the end of the first race of the London E-Prix on Saturday 24 July, the DS TECHEETAH team was back in first place in the Team Ranking. António Félix da Costa helped his team to take back  the lead in the Teams' Championship by finishing eighth in the first race. On the other hand, Jean-Éric Vergne had to satisfy himself with a 12th position. The Frenchman started 23rd and was forced to pit early in the race.

Round 13, 25 July 2021

Both DS TECHEETAH drivers had a good starts in the race, recovering positions in the initial laps up to 16th (Da Costa) 18th (Vergne) by lap 6, when a first safety-car period occurred. António was taken out in a dramatic battle with Lotterer that put an end to his extremely competitive drive because he was squeezed against the wall when attempting to pass the German. About Vergne, despite seeing his second attack mode ruined by a safety-car period, finished 12th.

Despite a complicated weekend in London, DS TECHEETAH still has it chance to aim for the double Formula E titles. They have to keep their head down for upcoming races at Berlin in order to keep their titles. See you in the German capital on 14 and 15 August for a final that promises to be intense.
