2ND DS X MÉTIERS D’ART: NINE CRAFTSPEOPLE COMPETE
Paris, April 27th, 2023

Part of the DS DESIGN STUDIO PARIS, the Colours, Materials and Finishes Department embodies the perfect match between design, luxury and expertise. Made up of a team with varied creative backgrounds, designers are constantly looking for just the right line, texture and shade.

Driven by this search for creativity and excellence, the DS Automobiles teams launched a design competition for the best French craftspeople, in partnership with Métiers Rares, the leading consultancy specialising in the promotion of crafts and founding sponsor of the The Craft Project media.

After a successful first event that led to the design of interior trim for an exclusive DS 9 by the winner Anne Lopez, DS Automobiles launched a second called DS LUMEN, inviting French-based craftspeople to work on lighting effects through material, to be applied to the grille of New DS 3 E-TENSE.

Nine candidates with very diverse profiles were chosen by an internal panel, from among several dozen applicants. They’ve made samples that will be showcased at Révélations, the international biennial show for crafts and design organised at the Grand Palais Ephémère in Paris from 7 to 11 June.

Selected by a jury made up of DS Automobiles teams and influential personalities in the fields of art and design, three finalists will be announced. The jury and the public (with voting open to all) will then choose the competition winner who will be revealed in September. DS Automobiles will entrust them with making a grille for New DS 3 E-TENSE.

“The DS x MÉTIERS D’ART candidates surprised us, once again and as they did the first time, with their incredible creativity. We again uncovered amazing talent. Our theme, with the use of light, brings an even more magical dimension to the designs we’ve seen. I thank the jury for its involvement, the richness of the discussion and intense exchange of views.”
