DS Automobiles secures spectacular victory in Jeddah

DS PENSKE is in fourth place in the overall standings

Paris, February 17th 2025

For the first time, Jeddah is hosting the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship this weekend for the third and fourth races of Season 11. And history will also record that it was in Saudi Arabia’s second-largest city that Maximilian Günther clinched his first victory with DS Automobiles on Friday night. Starting from pole position, the German driver secured a dramatic win by reclaiming the lead in the final chicane, just a few hundred metres from the finish line.

The intensity of the battle between the electric single-seaters was evident recently right from qualifying, with eight different teams making it to the final stage. While Jean-Éric Vergne finished fifth in his group, missing out on a qualifying spot by less than a tenth of a second, Maximilian Günther put together a flawless run to the final, securing his first pole position with DS Automobiles - the 25th for the premium French manufacturer.

" It was a great day for us. I am very proud and very happy to achieve this victory, my first for the team.

The men and women who work behind the scenes deserve it so much!

They have done an incredible job over the last few weeks and there is so much talent in this team. I love working with them!

We work hard, but to be rewarded in our third event together is fantastic.

It was not an easy race, but we were able to come back and achieve this result.

And the manner of how we achieved pole position, the victory and fastest lap. This all makes me really proud.”

Maximilian Günther

" It was truly a perfect race. When you manage to get pole position, victory and fastest lap, you really can't ask for more!

I congratulate Max and the whole team for the wonderful work done ahead of this race. During the first two rounds, we understood our potential, but we were penalised by incidents.

Today everything went perfectly! The immense talent of the team and our driver allowed us to achieve a memorable result.

It was also a good race for JEV who started in P10 and finished P6. In all, we collected a lot of points for DS PENSKE which is now in 2nd place in the ranking.

Tomorrow we hit the track again and we will try to have another solid race. "

Eugenio Franzetti, DS Performance director

On Saturday, it was Jean-Eric Vergne who flew the flag for DS Automobiles, scoring valuable points after a race full of twists and turns.  Thanks to the combined performances of our two drivers, DS PENSKE is in fourth place in the overall standings, just five points behind the leading team. Maximilian Günther is now fourth in the drivers' standings, while Jean-Eric is sixth.

After Saudi Arabia, the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship will travel to Miami for the fifth race of the season on April 12th.
