DS Automobiles SailGP Team France

French excellence, driven by emotion

DS Automobiles & SailGP

Emotion and technology powering performance

DS Automobiles is expressing itself in a new way by becoming the first premium car brand to commit to being a Title Partner of the France SailGP Team.

An unprecedented partnership that brings together two worlds driven by the same beliefs: innovation in aid of efficiency, devising cleaner mobility, and celebrating French Excellence on the most spectacular stages in the world.

DS Automobiles is committed to working alongside the France team to carry out a joint, responsible and ambitious project, where technological performance talks with pure emotion.

A JOINT FRENCH PROJECT

DS Automobiles is joining forces with a long-term project, structured around a strong vision: to promote French excellence on a high-level sporting stage, where technology, emotion and environmental responsibility come together.

As a Title Partner, we are confirming our commitment to projects that combine expertise, efficiency and international influence.

The "Rolex SailGP" Championship is an open-air laboratory, where the precision of human movement and technological innovation shape every performance on demanding circuits.

This environment of extreme competition echoes DS Automobiles’s DNA: seeking efficiency, designing differently, cultivating the French savoir-faire.

AN ELITE TEAM POWERED BY BY FRENCH AUDACITY

DS Automobiles SailGP Team France brings together some of the most experienced athletes, engineers and technicians on the circuit.

A team driven by the desire to embody French excellence on every stretch of water in the championship; which has stood out for its level of excellence and commitment to being in the Top 5 for a number of seasons.

Driven by Quentin Delapierre, the crew stands out because of:

  •  dazzling starts,
  •  mastering extreme conditions,
  •  an ultra-technical approach, fed by data and real-time analysis,
  •  a strong commitment to gender diversity and the development of women athletes.

THE F50 CATAMARAN

The expression of French innovation on the water

The F50 is SailGP’s iconic catamaran — a spectacular hydrofoiler that lifts clear of the water and accelerates beyond 100 km/h. Identical for every team, it becomes the ultimate revealer of talent, where every decision, every movement and every breath of wind takes on heightened significance.

F50's high-tech DNA

The F50 is directly inspired by the America's Cup AC50 and continues its philosophy: to go faster than the wind through planing.

Cnstructed from carbon fibre, 15 metres long and 8.8 metres wide, it features a rigid 24-metre mast and can reach speeds in excess of 100 km/h in foil.

In summary:

  •  Technological heir to the AC50
  •  15 m long, 8.8 m wide
  •  High-performance carbon fibre
  •  24 m rigid mast
  •  Top speed: 52+ knots (100 km/h)
  •  Standardised platform for all nations

Designed for pure speed, in the hands of the France team it became the symbol of extreme engineering, echoing DS Automobiles avant-garde.

High-intensity control

Driving an F50 requires absolute precision and perfect coordination between the six crew members.

Each role is meticulous: adjusting the foils, controlling the rigid rigging, making instant tactical decisions, managing the live data flow.

On this flying boat, the human being is key:

  • reading the wind to the hundredth of a second,
  • perfect synchronisation of manoeuvres,
  • decisions taken at very high speed,
  • mastery of extreme situations.

A world where performance is born from the union of cutting-edge technology and human expertise — a natural parallel with DS Automobiles's values of excellence.

Responsible performance

SailGP makes environmental responsibility a central issue with its Impact League, and the F50 fully embodies this approach.

Each development aims to reduce the sport’s environmental footprint while increasing energy efficiency: optimised materials, simpler on-board systems, intelligent use of data to limit losses and maximise the efficiency of manoeuvres.

For DS Automobiles, this vision echoes its own commitment:

  • innovating for cleaner mobility,
  • designing with greater energy limitations,
  • relying on competition as an accelerator of technology useful for the road,
  • Advancing a sustainable and elegant vision of performance.

The F50 thus becomes a unique learning tool for coming up with responsible mobility for tomorrow.

ROLEX SAILGP CHAMPIONSHIP

Understanding SailGP in a few words

SailGP is a unique international championship where 13 nations compete on identical catamarans in short and intense races, as close as possible to the coast.

Each event brings together speed, strategy, control and instant decision-making: a sporting spectacle of rare intensity.

A SailGP weekend is structured around several qualifying races on Saturday, where each team earns points. On Sunday, the top three crews face off in a three-boat final that determines the winner of the event.
