DS Virgin Racing unveils new car for 2017/2018 Formula E season
DS Virgin Racing kicks off the 2017/2018 Formula E Championship season by raising the lid on its DSV-03, a few days before the first meeting in Hong Kong. This event coincides with the anniversary of the team's first victory in the discipline.
The new 100% electric single-seater is displayed in its traditional colors in purple, red and silver, with some adjustments on the livery. Under the bodyshell, the DS Performance experts worked on the optimization of the car and its efficiency with a new software management.
The team aligns the first 100% British pair in Formula E history with Sam Bird and Alex Lynn. Thirty-one-year-old Sam Bird competed in all 33 of the team's races, winning five wins and nine podium finishes, making him the third driver to score the most points in Formula E. Alex Lynn, 24 - on the contrary - start his first full season after a first appearance last year. On this occasion, he had won pole position on his first attempt, becoming one of only two drivers to achieve this performance.
This day also marks the third anniversary of the team's first victory at the Putrajaya E-Prix in 2014, with Sam Bird driving. This landmark date is the inspiration behind the launch movie, which celebrates the team's already strong legacy, its successes and key moments, both on and off track, including a double at the very first New York E-Prix last year.
DS Virgin Racing starts this new season with the arrival of an additional partner. Alpinestars is a reference in the field of sports equipment, joining DS Automobiles, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Kaspersky and Total.
